Rays of the rising and the setting sun – Huun-Huur-Tu in Tuvan. The band chose the name to express the intricacy of throat singing; as subtle as the reflections of light scattered over the steppe. Like the age-old singing technique (Xöömei), the instruments they play also invoke the sounds of nature. Traditional instruments accompany the charismatic singers as they call forth ancient spirits. One singer may sing 2-3 different notes at once, the effect is quadrupled to elemental effect with world famous Huun-Huur-Tu.
To learn throat-singing from the Tuvan masters, register here to Huun-Huur-Tu’s workshop (April 1st, 5 pm) at Pont Festival.
